The History Behind The Finest Educational Institution In Louisiana

Our history first began in the summer of 1969 when a group of like-minded parents came together to form an institute which excels in both academics and instilling morals, values, and ethics in our children. Parents were upset with the deterioration of the neighborhood schools and set out to form a school which functioned like a close knit community.

In September of 1969 temporary buildings were setup on the outskirts of a sugar cane field within walking distance of beautiful False River. Among the very first shareholders in our school there can be found many well respected businessmen and towns people still living in New Roads and the surrounding area. In fact, one of the founders of our school, Sybil Mounger can be found teaching in the education building at False River Academy. J.B. Ewing Jr. is another one of our first shareholders and became our first president of the board. His great-grandchildren are currently enrolled in FRA's elementary school!

At False River Academy we take pride in delivering the same morals and values that this school was founded on. One of the ways we have been able to achieve such success is by having such an active alumni involved in our day to day operations. Our graduates have gone on to become prominant members in society. They have become everything from doctors, to lawyers, to politicians, to educators, and every career in between.

Here at False River Academy we are happy to say that once we get involved in a person's life that person often finds it hard to let go. Our very first principal, Mr. Duhon, can still be seen frequently substituting for faculty members more than twenty years after his tenure.

In short False River Academy was founded on excellence and strives to continue on with the tradition of superior achievement in our every endeavour.
